Women, Quit Smoking and Start Seeing Positive Facial Benefits

Did you know that if you were to avoid everything that could potentially cause cancer you would literally have to live in a bubble? Even then, your genetic make up influences your risk for breast cancer, colon cancer, and even bone cancer. Since we are consistently warned of the health risks of everything inside and outside of our bodies, the risk often doesn’t seem real enough to quit smoking to avoid cancer. We hear about health risks so often we rarely heed them.

Many women actually quit smoking out of vanity rather than concerns over their health, and there certainly isn’t anything wrong with that. When you’re in your late teens or even your early twenties there is a common factor in picking up cigarette smoking. It’s a choice. Not one of us didn’t feel a terrible feeling in our chest and throat, which often led to coughing, the first time we lit up. And yet we went back and did it again, and again, and yet again.

Image had so much to do with why we started and for women, it can be exactly why we quit. That image became part of us. At least until we looked at the reflection in the mirror and wondered who that old looking lady was staring back at us. Most women in their thirties that started smoking in their early twenties will develop a crease wrinkle between their eyebrows first. Then crows’ feet and slight wrinkles around the mouth start to appear. Discolored facial skin and an unattractive texture come with the territory. When we consider the consequence of weight gain over the repercussion of wrinkles, quitting seems like a better choice.

We can use our wits and good judgment in order to avoid and counteract weight gain. Poor skin and early wrinkles are not so easy to control without expensive practices and a fortune in cosmetics.

For the quit smoking benefits to womens facial skin…

you’re going to want to attack the problem from both the inside and the outside. You can reverse some of the damage once you’re no longer puffing on a smoke. You want to improve your dry skin care to help with the texture and then apply skin care cream that is loaded with collagen, elastin, and antioxidants.

These three basic ingredients are the key elements to repairing the damage that the free radicals from smoking have caused. The chemicals in cigarette smoke stay locked in the blood and eventually turn into the free radicals that control and damage cell development. The natural production of any of these basic essentials is drastically reduced in a woman that smokes.

Health warnings are often ignored until it is too late. Looking at your reflection daily and knowing that you are aging your facial skin by years with every pack is a strong motivator for quitting.

As if you needed another reason to quit smoking here is another one to help you detoxify from smoking. It has long been suspected that smoking and gum disease are interrelated. Thanks to recent studies, that link has pretty much been proven. We have all long known that smoking is dangerous to your health. It can cause heart disease, including heart attacks. It can lead to strokes and aneurysm. Naturally it could lead to lung and throat cancer, not to mention many others. Your breath smells, your teeth get stained, and respiratory problems and infections are practically a given. As it turns out, smoking can negatively affect your oral health as well.

Smoking is one of the big risk factors associated with gum disease. This because smoking practically opens up the door for bacteria to flock into your mouth. Bacteria is what ultimately causes gum diseases like gingivitis and periodontitis. However, that is not the only reason smoking can lead to gum disease.

Both the smoke which comes from the tobacco and the nicotine in cigarettes can make your blood vessels constrict. That makes it harder and harder for nutrients and oxygen to get to parts of your body – including your gums and gum tissue.

Smoking is not the only thing which causes this to happen. Chewing tobacco can as well. Further, they can both make it more difficult for your body to adequately fight off infections. Meaning, it cannot stave off the infection which causes gingivitis. If you are a smoker, it may even be more difficult for your body to respond to the proper treatment methods for gm disease.

How could you, as a smoker, decrease your risk for gum disease? Well, naturally, you have got to stop smoking. Think of all the aspects of your health smoking will negatively affect? You also have to do your part by rigorously taking care of your teeth. Brushing, flossing, and regular checkups are absolutely mandatory.

This article provides some alarming facts on lung cancer statistics. You are probably aware that the majority of the people who die from cancer every year are victims of lung cancer. In fact, from all types of cancer deaths, lung cancer accounts for 30%. These lung cancer statistics show that lung cancer is the second most common cause of death in humans.

Fortunately, it is actually possible to prevent many of these deaths by stopping smoking, because according to lung cancer statistics, 85% of the cancer deaths are caused because of excessive smoking. Smoking is not good for the health of the smoker as well as for any passive smokers, who are unfortunate enough to be living around the smoker. Believe it or not, if all people around the world were to stop smoking, the number lung cancer deaths would become insignificantly small compared to other causes of death.

Lung cancer statistics show that of all the ethnic groups in the world, the incidence of lung cancer in African Americans is the highest. A possible reason could be the higher incidence of smoking amongst African Americans, as opposed to other ethnic groups.

You may not be aware but lung cancer is considered to be one of the most life-threatening kinds of cancer. According to some lung cancer statistics, the survival rate (five-year survival rate) of those who suffer from breast cancer is 87% and from colon cancer is 62%. Likewise, prostrate cancer has the five year survival rate of 92%. The shocking truth is that the five year survival rate of lung cancer patients is as low as 15%.

One of the reasons for the low survival rate of lung cancer patients can be ascribed to the fact that the disease is often only identified during the final or advanced stages. When in an advanced stage, cancer has spread to other parts of the body and has begun affecting the proper functioning of many important organs. As a result most lung cancer patients die sooner, rather than later.

A common falacy, is that someone having quit smoking for 15 years has a reduced chance of getting lung cancer and that the condition of their lungs become comparable to those of a non-smoker. Whatever the perception, lung cancer statistics show that this is not possible. A smokers lungs can never be restored to the same condition as those of a non-smoker. Their chances of getting lung cancer would not increase further, but would never decrease to levels of probability applicable to non-smokers.

There is a nine times higher probability for someone who smoked previously to die from lung cancer, than there is for someone who has never smoked, according to lung cancer statistics. What’s more, it is believed that people who still smoke while suffering from lung cancer are twenty-three times more prone to die from the disease than a smoker who has quit.

Lung cancer statistics repeatedly show that there is an alarming link between lung cancer deaths and smoking. There is a clear and simple message if you do not want to die from lung cancer – STOP SMOKING! After all, prevention is better than cure!

2. Second on many people’s list would perhaps by cardiovascular diseases in terms of smoking-related illnesses. Heart attacks, strokes, paralysis and collapse are only few of these diseases. One of the things that smoke causes is the arteries to harden and narrow.

3. Emphysema – This causes the breathlessness brought about by damage to the air sacs or alveoli. 94% of 20-sticks-a-day smoker suffer from this disease.
