Now I’m sure you’re aware of the side effects of smoking like lung cancer, emphysema, asthma, bronchitis, and so on. It’s interesting to note that a lot of people don’t realize smoking is an addiction. In fact nicotine is actually more addictive than hard drugs like heroin. So once you begin your body starts to crave the drug nicotine so you have to use it over and over again to take the edge off. So when you try to quit you develop withdrawal symptoms, which most people find hard to handle, so they don’t quit. Some of the withdrawal symptoms con include mood swings, excessive eating, gaining weight, and anxiety.

The nicotine in a persons system increases the heart rate, flow of blood and even your blood pressure. So again you ask yourself, “Why should I stop smoking”? Well how about because smoking is considered one of the leading contributors to heart attacks. It contributes to the hardening of the arteries.

Many wonder if there is a stop smoking program that will truly work for them. The answer is “yes” if you “want” it to. These programs are out there to assist you in letting go of that nicotine addiction and moving forward with your life smoke free. However, you have to really want to quit in order for it to work. Will power is huge is making this decision to stopping smoking. It’s a decision that will change your life. Many who have gone through a stop smoking program and succeeded in that program have said they feel a lot better than they did before. The can breathe better and they are not as tired as they once were. They admit that it was a challenge to quit and it was even bigger challenge to stick with the program.

The people who stick with a stop smoking program have no regrets and say it was worth the effort. They have a new found appreciation for their life. The crutch they once thought they needed so badly has now faded away. They didn’t need it as much as they thought they did. Once you make the decision to stop smoking it becomes a battle in the mind. You just keep telling yourself “I’m through, I don’t need this in my life anymore”. Ultimately to be successful you have to be in a positive and persistent state of mind to succeed. When that day comes you will find a stop smoking program that will work for you. Do some research online about the different programs out there to see which one is a fit for you. Once you find one and follow through with it in the end you’ll be glad you did.
